It was reported earlier this month that Kiersey Clemons was the top contender for the female lead in Rick Famuyiwa’s The Flash film, (with Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton also in contention). And it’s officially a “Dope” reunion for Clemons and Famuyiwa as she was officially announced by Variety to have joined the film.
“The Flash” had to overcome the hurdle of replacing the film’s original director, Seth Grahame-Smith, who parted ways with the project over creative differences. “Dope” helmer Rick Famuyiwa took over directing duties in June. The movie, however, appears to be able to meet its planned start date. Production is expected to commence sometime this year.
Although it is not confirmed what role she got, it is said to very likely be Iris West. Will update when confirmed.
UPDATE – Kiersey has been confirmed as Iris West from director Rick Famuyiwa.
The Flash was last set for a March 2018 release date. WB, however, moved the Lara Croft reboot to that same date so it’s very likely we’ll hear a new release date soon for the solo. It is guessed the unnamed DC film October 2018 date is its new date. But if they plan to start production this year…
It was also rumored that whoever was cast would cameo for Justice League and immediately head to set to film. This hasn’t been confirmed so we’ll have to wait and see. For now, here’s the SDCC footage from the film:
