It was reported earlier this month that Kiersey Clemons was the top contender for the female lead in Rick Famuyiwa’s The Flash film, (with Rita Ora and Lucy Boynton also in contention). And it’s officially a “Dope” reunion for Clemons and Famuyiwa as she was officially announced by Variety to have joined the film.
It was reported by Variety early June that Brie Larson was in talks to play Carol Danvers, the first female superhero from Marvel to get a solo film. It’s stated that Marvel plans to get the actress cast early in case of a possibility of showing up in a film before her solo in 2019. The only announcements for the film so far had been the script writers, Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman (Inside Out).
One other big panel appeared in Hall H and that was Marvel Studios’ movies. Obviously, Doctor Strange, GotG Vol 2, and Spider-Man Homecoming showed up and surprisingly Black Panther and even Captain Marvel (although short) made an appearance.
So much awesomeness coming from the DC Films panel from Warner Bros today. The directors of the DC Universe first appeared and each spoke a bit about their film and being apart of the universe. Wonder Woman panel came next followed by not only surprise shot of the Justice League but also the first footage. After those two came Suicide Squad who also showed a new (final?) trailer for the film with 3 of the film’s songs featured in it. Let’s check it all out!
Bottom line: A rare match to its predecessor, Finding Dory is full of heart and humor following the journey of a forgetful (yet endearing) fish.
“Two years ago Suicide Squad was a tertiary [DC property]. No one knew anything about it. It was a cool little playground, and I was going to go make my movie,” says the film’s writer/director, David Ayer. “Now it’s like the hype bus. All of the attention has swung onto it, and it has to carry a lot more weight than it was ever intended to. I think it can sustain it. But it’s a lot of pressure. You definitely feel the pressure.” (via EW)
