First off, I’d like to say I didn’t go in to the theater with much expectations for this film due to it being (IMO) the worst book in the Hunger Games trilogy. Did I find this first part to be better than the book so far? Yes. But was two parts needed? No.
In my opinion, Lionsgate wanted the $$moola$$ and unnecessarily split the book into elongated minutes of the rising rebellion. I mean really, was it necessary to split it?! Although I haven’t seen the second part (obviously) I bet that it could’ve been one movie. This was long and drawn and when it came to the end I was almost left unsatisfied.
The good part of the movie is Jennifer Lawrence of course. She played the “Girl on Fire” well…but everything else was lacking.
What did you think of the movie? Was it necessary to split it?

Critics Consensus: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 sets up the franchise finale with a penultimate chapter loaded with solid performances and smart political subtext, though it comes up short on the action front.
